Терри Райли - один из основателей американской музыкально-концептуальной волны минимализма, праотец эмбиента и хауса, выразивший новый взгляд на методы и возможности звука как такового, вне европейской традиции. Известный электронный альбом «A Rainbow in Curved Air» (записан в 1967–1968 гг., выпущен в 1969), вдохновлял многие из более поздних произведений электронной музыки, включая синтезаторные партии Пита Таундсена в песнях «Baba O'Riley» и «Won't Get Fooled Again» группы The Who, которые впоследствии были посвящены Терри Райли и Мехер Бабе,[7] а также композицию «Tubular Bells» (1973) Майка Олдфилда.

Terry Riley is one of the founders of the American musical-conceptual wave of minimalism, the forefather of ambient and house, who expressed a new look at the methods and possibilities of sound as such, outside the European tradition. The main distinguishing features of Riley's music is the meditative component, repetition, an attempt to overcome time and space, the influence of Indian culture and music of the peoples of the world.
The famous electronic album A Rainbow in Curved Air (recorded in 1967–1968, released in 1969) inspired many of later electronic music, including the synth parts of Pete Towndsen in the songs Baba O'Riley and Won t Get Fooled Again ”by The Who, which was later dedicated to Terry Riley and Meher Babe, [7] as well as the composition“ Tubular Bells ”(1973) by Mike Oldfield.
The album had a significant impact on the formation of minimalist music, the development of ambient, progressive rock, new age, preceded electronic jazz fusion by Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and others
