Ганга Душера / Ganga Dussehra
Душера, (Дурга-пуджа, Дуссера, Дашахра и т.д.) – один из самых популярных религиозных праздников в Индии, который отмечается от 10 до 17 дней. Первые 9 ночей отводится богослужению (Наваратри), а десятый празднуется как поклонение Деви. В штате Химачал Прадеш, празднуется целых 17 дней.
Это день называют явлением матери Ганги, день, когда священная река сошла с небес на Землю. Есть древнее предание о том, как Ганга сошла с небес. В "Махабхарате" говорится о том, что когда-то великий царь Бхагиратхи пришел к горе Химаван, чтобы предаться там суровому подвижничеству. Движимый желанием спасти своих предков, недостигших небес, он провёл в покаянии тысячу лет. А по прошествии тысячи небесных лет, приняв телесный облик, явилась ему сама великая река, Богиня Ганга. Она спросила у царя, что он хочет. И царь ответил, что его предкам не будет дано места на небе до тех пор, пока она не омоет их тела своими водами. Услышав эти слова царя, Ганга, чтимая всем миром, сказала Бхагиратхе, что исполнит его желание. Но только напор её, когда станет падать с небес, трудно будет сдержать. Лишь Господь Шива сможет сдержать её воды. Услышав эти слова, царь Бхагиритхи отправился к горе Кайлас и принялся ублаготворять Шиву. Довольный подвижничеством царя, Бхагаван обещал сдержать Гангу при её падении с небес. Так Ганга, дочь Химавана, сошла в это мир.
Ярмарка, которая продолжается в течение целой недели в долине Куллу в Химачал Прадеше, является частью празднования Душеры. Из маленьких храмов, которые расположены на холмах, выносят изображения богов на площадь Куллу с весельем, музыкой. Основным божеством является Рагунатхджи. На севере Индии этот праздник величают Виджай дашара, днем победы Рамы над Раванной
Дурга пуджа (Праздник поклонения Дурге) в Бенгалии и Восточной Индии, на юге Индии популярно такое название как Наваратра, а уберегов реки Ганг закрепилоь именование Ганга дашахра.

The first 9 nights are given to worship (Navaratri), and the tenth is celebrated as the worship of Devi. In the state of Himachal Pradesh, it is celebrated for 17 days.
This day is called the appearance of the mother of the Ganges, the day when the sacred river descended from heaven to Earth. There is an ancient legend about how the Ganges descended from heaven. The Mahabharata says that once the great king Bhagirathi came to Mount Himawan to indulge in severe asceticism there. Motivated by the desire to save his ancestors who had not reached heaven, he spent a thousand years in repentance. And after a thousand celestial years, having taken a physical form, the great river itself appeared to him, the Goddess Ganga. She asked the king what he wanted. And the king replied that his ancestors would not be given a place in heaven until she washed their bodies with her waters. Hearing these words of the king, Ganga, revered by the whole world, told Bhagirathe that she would fulfill his wish. But only its pressure, when it begins to fall from heaven, will be difficult to restrain. Only Lord Siva will be able to restrain her water. Hearing these words, King Bhagiritha went to Mount Kailash and began to thank Shiva. Satisfied with the asceticism of the king, Bhagavan promised to restrain the Ganges in its fall from heaven. So Ganga, daughter of Himawan, descended into this world.
