MANHATTAN SHORT 2017
Позавчера объявили победителей фестиваля.
В этот раз всемирный выбор по части фильма №1 совпал с моим. Вот так скромно. Грузинская короткометражка «8 минут» - лучшая года за 3, может даже за 4.
Сначала я подумала: «Какая глупость». Сюжет начинается с объявления о катастрофе – гаснет солнце. Телевизионные каналы ведут отсчет последних 8 минут и скольки-то там секунд до наступления полной темноты. Разумеется, с точки зрения физики и биологии дальше не будет ничего, просто ничего не может быть. И всеже это самый позитивный фильм 2017-го.
Аннотация к нему: «With the end of the world fast approaching, an aging magician realizes one last feat of magic is required of him.» И волшебство удается на славу!
Режиссеры в интервью на вопрос «Что вас вдохновило на этот фильм?» ответили: «Мы хотели создать историю конца света, в которой один человек находит что-то позитивное в грядущей катастрофе и использует это на всю катушку. За неделю мозгового штурма мы не приблизились ни к хорошим героям, ни к хорошему сюжету. Тогда мы провели один последний час наедине с собой, чтобы найти что-то ценное, мы очень старались. Через час, волшебным образом, произошла «абракадабра», и у нас появился сюжет для фильма.»
В общем, смотреть обязательно при первой возможности. К сожалению, не нашла сходу в сети, но, наверняка, его выложат.
Коротко об остальных 9 лентах.
Я не люблю «социальное» кино, в котором режиссеры «выезжают» на социально резонансных темах: инвалиды, беженцы, права меньшинств и тому подобное. Поэтому «Just Go!» (инвалид, который к тому же играл сам себя) и «Mare Nostrum» (беженцы) в пролете. В последнем фильме я до последнего не понимала, о чем он: решила, что мужчина свихнулся из-за того, что жена утонула, и поэтому так обращается с дочерью. Если бы не было фразы в конце фильма, смысл ускользнул бы безвозвратно.
Особняком стоят «Viola, Franka» (права женщин) и «Hope Dies Last» (фашизм).
В первом представлена завязка для сюжета о Виоле Франка - первой сицилийке, восставшей против репарационных браков. Бодрое повествование и хорошая игра - вполне может выйти стоящий фильм.
Второй же, по сути, «театр одного актера»: политзаключенный бреет начальника лагеря, понимая, что этот раз может стать последним. По-моему, лучшая актерская игра на фестивале. Досадно, что по итогам голосования первое место у инвалида.
«Perfect Day» и «Fickle Bickle» - классические комедия положений и комедия нравов, построенные на разнице между ожиданиями и действительностью. Прямо как по букварю, ничего особенного.
«In a Nutshell», по-моему, не кино вовсе. Это набор фотографий объектов, перетекающих один в другой, без единого актера, если не считать появления визы/паспорта/т.п. с фото. Идея не новая, но годная – показать единым видеорядом жизнь общества.
«Do No Harm» и «Behind» мне абсолютно не понравились. Эти две чернушные короткометражки немного абсурдны и в то же время реалистичны. В них показаны женщины, попавшие в трудные ситуации и пытающиеся с ними справиться, как мне показалось, безуспешно. «Не навреди» о докторше, которая вынуждена спасать жизнь преступнику, а «Позади» (или как у нас перевели «По ту сторону») о женщине в разводе, которая до истерии боится, что бывший муж заберет ребенка. Много темных «ночных» фонов, тревожная музыка, обреченные решения – бытовая трагедия как она есть.
К счастью, чернуха была в самом начале показа. Не жалею, что сходили.

MANHATTAN SHORT 2017
The day before yesterday announced the winners of the festival.
This time around, the world choice for the film No. 1 coincided with mine. That's so modest. Georgian short film “8 minutes” is the best of the year for 3, maybe even 4.
At first I thought: "What a stupid thing." The plot begins with a disaster announcement - the sun goes out. Television channels count down the last 8 minutes and how many seconds there are until complete darkness. Of course, from the point of view of physics and biology, there will be nothing further, just nothing can happen. And even so, this is the most positive film of 2017.
Annotation to him: “With the end of the world fast approaching, an aging magician realizes one last feat of magic is required of him.” And the magic succeeds to glory!
The directors in an interview to the question "What inspired you to this film?" answered: “We wanted to create a story of the end of the world, in which one person finds something positive in the upcoming disaster and uses it to the fullest. For a week of brainstorming, we did not come close to either good heroes or a good plot. Then we spent one last hour alone with us to find something valuable, we tried very hard. An hour later, magically, "gibberish" occurred, and we got a plot for the film. "
In general, be sure to watch as soon as possible. Unfortunately, I did not find it immediately on the network, but, for sure, they will post it.
Briefly about the remaining 9 tapes.
I do not like “social” cinema, in which directors “travel” on socially resonant topics: people with disabilities, refugees, minority rights and the like. Therefore, "Just Go!" (disabled person who also played himself) and “Mare Nostrum” (refugees) in flight. In the last film, I did not understand until the last what he was talking about: I decided that the man went nuts because his wife drowned, and therefore she treats her daughter like that. If there were no phrase at the end of the film, the meaning would slip away forever.
Apart are “Viola, Franka” (women's rights) and “Hope Dies Last” (fascism).
The first presents the plot for the plot of Viola Franca - the first Sicilian to rebel against reparative marriage. Peppy narration and a good game - a worthy film may well come out.
The second, in fact, is a “one-man theater”: a political prisoner shaves the head of the camp, realizing that this time might be the last. In my opinion, the best acting game at the festival. It is annoying that according to the results of voting, the first place is held by a disabled person.
“Perfect Day” and “Fickle Bickle” are classic sitcoms and morals, built on the difference between expectations and reality. Just like in the ABC book, nothing special.
“In a Nutshell”, in my opinion, is not a movie at all. This is a set of photographs of objects flowing one into another, without a single actor, except for the appearance of a visa / passport / etc. with photo. The idea is not new, but valid - to show the life of society in a single video sequence.
"Do No Harm" and "Behind" I absolutely did not like. These two shabby shorts are a little absurd and at the same time realistic. They show women who are in difficult situations and trying to cope with them, as it seemed to me, to no avail. “Do no harm” about a doctor who is forced to save the life of a criminal, and “Behind” (or as we translated “On the Other Side”) about a woman who is divorced, who, hysterically, is afraid that her ex-husband will take the child. A lot of dark "night" backgrounds, disturbing music, doomed decisions - everyday tragedy as it is.
Fortunately, chernukha was at the very beginning of the show. I do not regret that we went.
