???? "Шоколад" (Л. Халльстрём, 2000) vs Дж. Харрис "Шоколад" (1999)
Оба произведения легкие, ненавязчивые и до мозга костей девочковые.
Но!
В книге демонизируется церковь и воцерковсленность, превозносится язычество, а главные герои прописаны плоско и однобоко: яркая "бытовая колдунья" Вьенн и черный священник Рено. Раскрашивают повествование второстепенные герои, но книгу спасти уже нельзя. В конце героиня, беременная от парня подруги (оО), гордо уезжает в очередной город. Туше!
В фильме герои живые и объемные, с понятной мотивацией. Нет прямых нападок на церковь, и максимально исключены кофликтные посылы. Рено из священника превращается в графа, Анук травят в школе не за нападки на религию, а за воображаемого друга, романчик Вьенн и Ру перерастает в нечто большее, а не заканчивается сексом на берегу. Фильм - это милая сказка с волшебной музыкой и красивыми героями. И, в отличие от книги,кино поднимает настроение и оставляет приятное послевкусие.

Две детские сказки о мире, где магия повсюду.
Книга английской писательницы решена в духе классических европейских сказок. Добро побеждает зло: отрицательные герои убиты и положительные герои соединяются, чтобы жить долго и счастливо. Огромный плюс романа – юмор. Автор постоянно шутит с читателем, и пресная история в новых декорация превращается в остроумное прочтение старой как мир сказки. Хоть местами и путанное.
Фильм я люблю больше. За то, что обычные люди, пусть даже волшебники, остаются обычными людьми, а не героями с белом пальто или отпетыми злодеями. За то, что в фильме каждый сам себе баклан и сам себе спаситель, и развитие сюжета не только счастливое стечение обстоятельств. За то, что взаимодействие героев меняет их характеры и даже мир вокруг настолько, что Ведьма пустоши становится в конце положительным персонажем. И, разумеется, за то, что Ходячий замок позаимствовал куриные ножки у нашей избы из сказок.

Фэнтези-сага о безвременьи и временщиках в Вестеросе.
До сих пор, пожалуй, не встречала более нудного романа. Тягучие описания династий, крепостей, поединков и диалогов. Да, даже диалоги выглядят описанием, а не действием. Из интервью Дж. Мартина о работе сценаристом: «Это великолепно, но слишком длинно, слишком много букв… Мне приходилось их сокращать, поэтому, вернувшись к книгам, я сказал себе: „Больше не буду заботиться ни о чём в этом духе…“ Я хотел тысячи персонажей, масштабные битвы, великолепные замки и анфилады — всё то, что я не мог позволить себе на телевидении». И автор оторвался по полной: каждая книга цикла – на 1000 страниц! Обилие имен, знамен, замков, удержать в голове которые сложнее с каждым поворотом. И текст напоминает учебник истории в 6-7 классе: каждый раздел новые страны и герои, ничем не примечательные и с трудом ложащиеся на единую канву времени.
Сериал канала HBO тоже масштабен и обилен. Уже снято 7 сезонов, 67 серий, экранизировано 6 книг из 7, включая еще не вышедшую «Ветер зимы». Детали сюжетов экранизации и первоисточника разошлись в пятом сезоне, и различия ширятся – сериал завершится задолго до выхода финальной книги. И тем не менее, сериал намного динамичнее и складнее книжной саги. Из-за телевизионных ограничений часть второстепенных деталей опущена, описания перенесены в визуальный ряд, сонм героев сокращен и уже удерживается в памяти. И это не говоря о кастинге, костюмах и музыке, которые также на высоте.

Самый неоднозначный пункт топа.
Книга У. Грума – это хлёсткая сатира на американский образ жизни, идею американской мечты, на войну во Вьетнаме и изнанку иделиальной, рекламной обложки США.
Фильм Р. Земекиса, наоборот, романтическая драма о месте человека в истории, о любви и стойкости, о преданности и воле случая.
Хороши оба, но фильм мне нравится больше.

Two children's tales of a world where magic is everywhere.
The book of the English writer is solved in the spirit of classic European tales. Good conquers evil: negative heroes are killed and positive heroes unite to live happily ever after. A huge plus of the novel is humor. The author constantly jokes with the reader, and the fresh story in the new scenery turns into a witty reading of an old fairy-tale world. Though confused in some places.
I love the movie more. Because ordinary people, even wizards, remain ordinary people, not heroes with a white coat or inveterate villains. Because in the film each cormorant is his own savior and his own savior, and the development of the plot is not only a happy coincidence. Because the interaction of the heroes changes their characters and even the world around them so much that the Witch of the Wasteland becomes a positive character in the end. And, of course, for the fact that the Walking Castle borrowed chicken legs from our hut from fairy tales.

Details of the plot of the film adaptation and the original source diverged in the fifth season, and the differences widen - the series will end long before the release of the final book. Nevertheless, the series is much more dynamic and more complex than the book saga. Due to television restrictions, some minor details are omitted, descriptions are transferred to the visual series, the host of heroes is reduced and is already held in memory. And this is not to mention the casting, costumes and music, which are also on top.

The film of R. Zemeckis, on the contrary, is a romantic drama about a person’s place in history, about love and perseverance, about devotion and the will of chance.
