ЧИТАТЕЛЬСКИЙ ДАЙДЖЕСТ № 2/2019
Постепенно нагоняю план. В этом выпуске книги за первую половину февраля.
И, что показательно, на 1 прослушанную аудиокнигу пришлось 4, прочитанных "глазами". Воркбук уж считать не буду - всего 58 страниц.
1. Э.М. Ремарк "Три товарища" (аудио)
Ожидала произведения в духе "На западном фронте без перемен", а получила любовный роман, правда замечательного качества. Да, главный герой Роберт Локамп - бывший военный, и Германия тоже после войны, везде опустошение и неизвестность. Но это всё. Ничего общего с "западным фронтом".
Язык хороший, сюжет классический, философствования автора опять слегка неуместные, но к ним привыкаешь. Советую любителям романтических произведений: книга - отличный пример гармоничной, сбалансированной истории любви бывшего солдата и девушки из интеллигентной семьи. Грустная и светлая.
Оценка 4 из 5, но жанр абсолютно не мой.
На этом пока знакомство с Ремарком оканчиваю.
2. Д. Кеннеди "Крупным планом"
Роман издан "Рипол Классик" в серии "Мировой бестселлер". Жирный минус издательству.
Книгу посоветовали на Лайвлибе во флэшмобе-2019. Из аннотации "Блистательный, стремительный, напряженный и энергичный психологический триллер от Дугласа Кеннеди выходит за границы жанра и ставит перед читателем весьма неожиданные вопросы." Вот уж и впрямь вышел за границы жанра: это упаднический роман о любви, посредственный детектив и размеренный триллер. Если под неожиданным вопросом подразумевалось "выбрать нелюбимую карьеру и обеспеченность или любимое дело и неизвестность" - так вопрос уже изрядно потрёпан.
Смысл произведения от меня ускользнул: главного героя и его женщин можно только презирать, сюжет оставляет в недоумении, а постоянное описание цен и магазинов в первой части усыпляет уже на десятой странице.
Книга отлично подходит для зверского убийства времени. Пожалела, что прочла. От меня 1 из 5.
3. Н. Гейман "Океан в конце дороги"
Сказочная меланхоличная повесть о ценности жизни и ничтожности человеческих возможностей от мастера мистического реализма.
Мужчина после похорон полусознательно приезжает в городок своего детства и идет на ферму, где познакомился когда-то с девочкой Летти Хэмпсток. Тогда ему было 7 лет, ей 11. Мужчина проходит к пруду за домом и постепенно в памяти всплывают события давних дней: самоубийство собирателя опалов, древнейшее семейство Хэмпсток, Урсула Монктон (или Шартах из Цитадели), голодные птицы-чистильщики, разрушение мира и жертва Летти.
Всё логично и прозрачно, не нужно копаться в тексте, как в породе, выискивая скрытые смыслы и хлебные крошки. Эта простота очень приглянулась мне раньше, а здесь показалась скучной.
Повесть не впечатлила, 3 из 5. Слишком банально для г-на Геймана, на мой вкус. И, да, это уж точно не роман.
4. Е. Звездная "Настоящая черная ведьма"
Иронический роман-фэнтези российского разлива.
Разумеется, это не шедевр мировой литературы. Но книга повеселила и развлекла. Задорная, бойкая романтическая история молодой ведьмы Аэтелль Герминштейн, мэра - ловца магов и белого мага на фоне таинственных исчезновений и смертей. Детективная линия - исключительно фон для любовной, поэтому даже не стоит упоминания. А любовная линия стара, как мир.
Незамысловатый бытовой юмор, ритмичный слог - и книга в 384 страницы читает за пару часов.
От меня 4 из 5 с поправкой на жанр - хороший представитель книг этого типа. Пожалуй, как Донцова среди иронических женских детективов.
5. Воркбук "Планирование" от издательства МИФ
Сборник практик из книг по планированию и личной продуктивности, ранее изданных МИФом.
Отличный пример грамотной компиляции! Можно применять методы с любого места, в любом порядке, все или выборочно. Это не блокнот для заполнения, а просто тетрадный сборник 17-ти работающих практик с описанием теории и примерами разворотов. Максимум пользы на 58 страницах.

6. А. Хейли "Аэропорт"
Роман типа "7 часов из жизни Мэла Бейкерсфелда"
Мэл Бейкерсфелд - управляющий крупным Лондонским аэропортом. У него проблемы на работе, проблемы с женой, проблемы с младшим братом, проблемы с шурином, проблемы с самореализацией. Пожалуй, у него нет проблем только с подчиненными и то по чистой случайности.
Это не совсем "Улисс", хотя автор тоже копается в мыслях персонажей. И это не "Сага о Форсайтах", хотя перед нами проходит несколько семей со своими "скелетами" и историями. Скорее, это роман-картинка, выхвативший семь часов из жизни героя и его окружения, и "подсветивший" обыденные, бытовые вопросы. Аэропорт же служит фоном для разворачивающейся драмы.
Мне в романе не хватило "времени" на каждого героя - 500 страниц слишком мало, чтобы раскрыть каждого из персонажей. Поэтому большинство из них выглядят реквизитом, куклами, а не живыми людьми.
Из плюсов: читается легко, слог тягучий, но не тяжелый. И ещё можно вскользь познакомиться с устройством аэропорта в 60-е годы.
От меня нейтральное 3 из 5.

READING DIGEST No 2/2019
Gradually catching up with the plan. This issue of the book is for the first half of February.
And, which is indicative, for 1 audiobook listened, there were 4 read by “eyes”. I won’t count Workbook - only 58 pages.
1. E.M. Remarque "Three Comrades" (audio)
She was awaiting works in the spirit of “On the Western Front, Without Changes,” and received a love affair, though of remarkable quality. Yes, the protagonist Robert Lokamp is a former military man, and Germany, too, after the war, everywhere devastation and suspense. But that’s all. Nothing to do with the Western Front.
The language is good, the plot is classic, the philosophizing of the author is again slightly inappropriate, but you get used to them. I advise lovers of romantic works: the book is a great example of a harmonious, balanced love story of a former soldier and a girl from an intelligent family. Sad and bright.
Score 4 out of 5, but the genre is absolutely not mine.
At this point, I’m ending my acquaintance with Remarque.
2. D. Kennedy "Close-up"
The novel is published by Ripol Classic in the World Bestseller series. Bold minus the publisher.
The book was advised on Livelyb in the 2019 flash mob. From the annotation "The brilliant, fast-moving, intense and energetic psychological thriller from Douglas Kennedy goes beyond the boundaries of the genre and poses very unexpected questions to the reader." That really went beyond the boundaries of the genre: this is a decadent love affair, a mediocre detective and a measured thriller. If an unexpected question meant "to choose an unloved career and wealth, or a favorite business and obscurity," then the question is already pretty tattered.
The meaning of the work eluded me: the protagonist and his women can only be despised, the plot is left at a loss, and the constant description of prices and shops in the first part is put to sleep on the tenth page.
The book is great for the brutal killing of time. I regretted reading it. From me 1 out of 5.
3. N. Gaiman "Ocean at the end of the road"
A fairy tale melancholy story about the value of life and the insignificance of human capabilities from the master of mystical realism.
After a funeral, a man half-consciously arrives in the town of his childhood and goes to the farm, where he once met the girl Letty Hampstock. Then he was 7 years old, she was 11. A man walks to the pond behind the house and gradually the events of old days come up in memory: the suicide of the opal collector, the oldest Hampstock family, Ursula Moncton (or Schartach from the Citadel), hungry cleaning birds, the destruction of the world and the victim Letty.
Everything is logical and transparent, no need to delve into the text, as in a breed, looking for hidden meanings and bread crumbs. This simplicity really liked me before, but here it seemed boring.
The story was not impressive, 3 out of 5. Too banal for Mr. Gaiman, for my taste. And, yes, this is certainly not a novel.
4. E. Star "The real black witch"
An ironic fantasy novel of the Russian flood.
Of course, this is not a masterpiece of world literature. But the book amused and entertained. The fervent, lively romantic story of the young witch Aetell Germinshtein, the mayor - a catcher of magicians and a white magician against the background of mysterious disappearances and deaths. The detective line is exclusively a background for a love affair, so it’s not even worth mentioning. And the love line is as old as the world.
Uncomplicated everyday humor, a rhythmic syllable - and a 384-page book reads in a couple of hours.
From me, 4 out of 5, adjusted for the genre, is a good representative of books of this type. Perhaps like Dontsova among the ironic female detectives.
5. Workbook "Planning" from the publishing house of MIF
A collection of practices from books on planning and personal productivity previously published by the MYTH.
A great example of competent compilation! You can apply methods from anywhere, in any order, all or selectively. This is not a notebook to fill out, but just a copybook of 17 working practices with a description of the theory and examples of U-turns. Maximum benefit on 58 pages.

A novel of the type “7 hours from the life of Mel Bakersfield”
Mel Bakersfeld is the manager of a major London airport. He has problems at work, problems with his wife, problems with his younger brother, problems with his brother-in-law, problems with self-realization. Perhaps he has no problems only with subordinates, and then by pure chance.
This is not exactly Ulysses, although the author also delves into the thoughts of the characters. And this is not the Forsyte Saga, although several families with their skeletons and histories pass before us. Rather, it is a novel-picture, snatched seven hours from the life of the hero and his entourage, and "highlighted" ordinary, everyday issues. The airport also serves as a backdrop for the unfolding drama.
In the novel, I did not have enough “time” for each character - 500 pages are too few to reveal each of the characters. Therefore, most of them look like props, dolls, and not living people.
From the pros: it is easy to read, the syllable is malleable, but not heavy. And yet you can casually get acquainted with the device of the airport in the 60s.
From me neutral 3 out of 5.
