В мае 2014 года в семье Мельничука произошла страшная трагедия. В ДТП, унесшем жизни семи человек, погибли отец вратаря, 17-летняя сестра Вероника, 4-летняя сестра Анастасия и дедушка. Мать и бабушка вратаря получили травмы, а у самого Алексея был перелом челюсти и черепно-мозговая травма. Про аварию Мельничук предпочитает никому не рассказывать.
Я прекрасно помню эту аварию парализовавшую Красносельское шоссе на много часов. Причем произошла она на месте, где просто на ровном участке постоянно бились машины и часто с летальным исходом. Говорили,что оно заговоренное какое-то. Сейчас там делают новый мост и теперь потоки машин будут уже разделены.
Поражает в Алексее то, что не смотря на эту страшную трагедию нашел в себе силы дальше жить и заниматься спортом. Вчера Алексей очень переживал за единственную шайбу которую он пропустил.

I perfectly remember this accident paralyzing the Krasnoselskoye highway for many hours. Moreover, it happened at a place where just on a flat area cars were constantly fighting and often fatal. They said that it was some kind of spell. Now they are making a new bridge there and now the flows of cars will already be divided.
It is striking in Alexey that, despite this terrible tragedy, he found the strength to continue to live and play sports. Yesterday Alexei was very worried about the only goal he missed.
