Job description
Pleeco is a software product company. Our mission is to help large and complex financial organizations manage liquidity. Banks can run into liquidity problems as a result of multiple intertwined risks. Illiquidity will cause a failure of a financial institution with a potential impact on the financial system and the broader economy. Liquidity risk measurement and management is a wide field. We need experts from about every area of computer science and beyond to help us with our mission, including information retrieval, advanced data processing algorithms, statistics, distributed computing, artificial intelligence, large-scale system design, networking, security, data visualization, user interface and application design, etc. We offer Software Engineers, Designers and Subject Matter Experts a unique opportunity and friendly environment for solving complex, important and interesting problems.
As a senior engineer, you will be involved in every stage of the product development lifecycle, starting with brainstorming around a given problem, designing a solution, planning the work, and finally developing and shipping the code. You will be part of the team building our core platform supporting data processing and analytics, leveraging modern approaches in design of large scale distributed systems. We face different technical challenges every day – some of them are not unique and you will be expected to research existing open-source solutions, while others require innovative thinking and strong engineering. As a senior engineer, you will be expected to establish thought leadership in your areas of expertise by contributing technical papers, public speaking and community conversations.
Qualifications / Responsibilities
• You have a solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in software design (OOD/DDD), distributed systems design, data structures, and algorithms;
• You are a strong coder who takes pride in writing clean and efficient code;
• You have 5+ years of experience with development in Java language and a good understanding of Java Memory Management and Concurrency;
• You have recent experience with Spring Framework;
• You have 2+ years of experience with key-value stores (Cassandra, MongoDB, Redis, etc);
• You have practical experience with:
o UNIX/Linux environment /shell;
o Configuration management tools such as Chef, Puppet, or Ansible;
o Setting up Continues Integration and Continues Delivery pipelines;
o Vagrant, Docker, or other virtualized development environment;
o Any cloud providers such as Amazon Web Services, Google App Engine, Microsoft Azure.
• You are comfortable with working in a high-paced environment;
• You are interested in development of scalable micro-service based architecture with cloud- based deployments on top of Mesos and Docker;
• You enjoy collaboration with others;
• You like to engage with and contribute to open-source community;
• You have a general interest in Data Science and Machine Learning complexity distributed environments, etc.
