ОТКРЫТОЕ ПИСЬМО ДМИТРИЯ ГУЩИНА ПОЧЁТНОМУ ПРЕЗИДЕНТУ КОМПАНИИ «БИЛАЙН» ОСНОВАТЕЛЮ ФОНДА «ДИНАСТИЯ» ДМИТРИЮ БОРИСОВИЧУ ЗИМИНУ

Здравствуйте, уважаемый Дмитрий Борисович!
Мы не знакомы, хотя не раз виделись; и я помню каждую нашу встречу. Впервые я увидел Вас под Москвой, на Всероссийской конференции учителей — победителей конкурса Фонда «Династия». Тогда я впервые услышал чудесную историю о том, как в детстве Ваш учитель физики увлёк Вас радиолюбительством; о том, что вы вместе написали книгу «Школьная УКВ-радиостанция»; о том, что школьное увлечение определило Вашу жизнь, в частности, создание Вами компании «Билайн»; о том, что память об этом Учителе Вы сохранили навсегда. Огромный зал стоя аплодировал Вам и Вашей благодарной памяти. Я был на десяти учительских конференциях «Династии»: так было на каждой из них, вне зависимости от того, были Вы в зале или нет. Помню, с какой теплотой несколькими годами позже Вы говорили об учреждённой Вами премии «Просветитель», а ещё через несколько лет я снова услышал мою любимую историю о том, насколько сильной может быть благодарность ученика Учителю.
К моему счастью, это чудо длилось долго. Пятнадцать лет Вы помогали российскому образованию и фундаментальной науке, вложив в них — в будущее нашей страны — миллиарды рублей. Я знаю, что за эти годы для многих десятков тысяч школьников и студентов, учителей и учёных были организованы летние Школы, конференции, стажировки, кружки, семинары, лектории, турниры, которые не состоялись бы без Вас, по доброй воле решившего помогать делу просвещения. Я видел, как радовались школьники, когда в далёкие регионы приезжали с лекциями столичные учёные, организуя для них праздник науки. Меня восхищало, что в библиотеки, в школы и вузы передавали тысячи книг — за эти годы при поддержке «Династии» были переведены и изданы десятки научно-популярных бестселлеров по самым современным проблемам естественных наук. Один из моих учеников несколько лет подряд дарил мне книги из этой серии. Я и сам дарил их много раз — они были праздником, которым хотелось поделиться.
Чувство щемящей боли живёт во мне с того момента, как я узнал, что чудесная сказка кончилась: Фонд признали «иностранным агентом», Вы приняли решение закрыть «Династию» и прекратить заниматься благотворительностью. Нет, я огорчаюсь не тому, что Фонд перестанет поддерживать учителей. Учителя — взрослые люди. Они знают историю и умеют проводить параллели. Они видят, что происходит вокруг, и понимают, куда это ведёт. Они знают о том, что бывает с теми, кто проявляет инициативу, кто действует не по указке. Учителя искренне переживают за Вас, но я знаю, что они не удивлены.
Мне больно за детей. За школьников, делающих самые первые шаги в познании мира, за тысячи студентов и аспирантов, которые, благодаря поддержке, оказываемой Фондом, могли проводить исследования в области фундаментальной математики, физики, химии и биологии. Мне больно от того, что молодые учёные не смогут больше слушать лекции Нобелевских лауреатов, которые по приглашению Фонда приезжали в Россию, не смогут стажироваться в лучших зарубежных вузах. Я переживаю о тех, кто узнавал о новостях науки на сайте «Элементы», о тех, кто читал книги, удостоенные премии «Просветитель», о тех, кто, читая их, получал прививку от мракобесия и узколобости.
Мне искренне жаль, что больше у них не будет этого счастья. Бездушная государственная машина смяла и выбросила Вашу мечту. Она победила не только Вас, но и всех нас, хотя казалось, что у неё не было шансов на победу.
Я знаю, что нашу мечту уже не вернуть. Но я знаю и то, что на место победивших придут новые, и что они пожрут друг друга. Я знаю, что политики — временщики, а Добро вечно. Поэтому я продолжаю верить в чудо.
Горько, когда гаснет звезда. Но свет от неё, уже погасшей, ещё долго будет нам светить.

Hello, dear Dmitry Borisovich!
We do not know each other, although we have seen more than once; and I remember our every meeting. The first time I saw you was near Moscow, at the All-Russian Conference of Teachers - Winners of the Dynasty Foundation contest. Then for the first time I heard a wonderful story about how, as a child, your physics teacher carried you to amateur radio; that you wrote the book “School VHF Radio Station” together; that your school passion determined your life, in particular, your creation of the Beeline company; that you remembered the memory of this Master forever. A huge standing room applauded you and your grateful memory. I attended ten dynasty teacher conferences: this was the case at each of them, regardless of whether you were in the hall or not. I remember how warmly you spoke a few years later about the Enlightener instituted by you, and a few years later I again heard my favorite story about how strong a student’s gratitude to Teacher can be.
Fortunately for me, this miracle lasted a long time. For fifteen years you have helped Russian education and fundamental science by investing billions of rubles in them - in the future of our country. I know that over the years, for many tens of thousands of schoolchildren and students, teachers and scientists, summer schools, conferences, internships, circles, seminars, lectures, tournaments that would not have taken place without you, who decided to help the cause of education with their free will, were organized. I saw how schoolchildren rejoiced when metropolitan scholars came to distant regions to organize lectures for science for them. I was delighted that thousands of books were transferred to libraries, schools and universities - over the years, with the support of the "Dynasty", dozens of popular scientific books on the most modern problems of the natural sciences have been translated and published. One of my students gave me books from this series for several years in a row. I myself gave them many times - they were a holiday that I wanted to share.
A feeling of pain is in me from the moment I learned that the wonderful fairy tale was over: the Fund was recognized as a “foreign agent”, you decided to close the Dynasty and stop doing charity work. No, I'm not upset that the Foundation will stop supporting teachers. Teachers are adults. They know the story and know how to draw parallels. They see what is happening around and understand where it leads. They know what happens to those who take the initiative, who do not follow orders. The teachers sincerely worry about you, but I know that they are not surprised.
It hurts me for the children. For students taking the very first steps in understanding the world, for thousands of students and graduate students who, thanks to the support provided by the Foundation, could conduct research in the field of fundamental mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology. It hurts me that young scientists will no longer be able to listen to the lectures of Nobel laureates who came to Russia at the invitation of the Foundation, and will not be able to train in the best foreign universities. I worry about those who learned about the news of science on the Elements website, those who read books awarded the Enlightener Prize, and those who, when reading them, were vaccinated against obscurantism and narrow-mindedness.
I am sincerely sorry that they will no longer have this happiness. The soulless state machine crushed and threw away your dream. She defeated not only you, but all of us, although it seemed that she had no chance of victory.
I know that our dream cannot be returned. But I also know that new ones will come to the place of the victors, and that they will devour each other. I know that politicians are temporary workers, and Good is forever. Therefore, I continue to believe in miracles.
It’s bitter when the star goes out. But the light from it, already extinguished, will shine for us for a long time.
