Однажды молодая белошвейка сидела на берегу реки и шила, как вдруг ее наперсток упал в воду. Она заплакала, и тогда явился к ней Господь и спросил: "Дитя мое, почему ты так горько плачешь?"
Швея ответила, что ее наперсток упал в воду, и как же она будет без него помогать мужу прокормить семью?!..
Господь опустил руку в воду и вытащил из воды золотой с жемчугом наперсток.
"Это твой?" - спросил он женщину.
Она ответила "Нет".
Во второй раз погрузил Господь руку в воду и достал серебряный наперсток, украшенный сапфирами.
"Это твой наперсток?" - снова спросил он, и швея ответила "Нет".
В третий раз достал Господь из воды кожаный наперсток.
"А это твой наперсток?" - спросил он, и швея сказала "Да".
Обрадовался Бог такой честности и оставил ей все три наперстка, и она счастливо возвратилась домой.
Прошло несколько лет.
Как-то белошвейка гуляла вместе с мужем вдоль реки, как вдруг муж поскользнулся, упал в реку и скрылся под водой.
Швея заплакала, и снова явился Господь к ней и спросил: "Почему ты плачешь?"
"О Боже, мой муж упал в реку!"
Бог вошел в воду и вышел вместе с Джорджем Клуни.
"Это твой муж?" - спросил он женщину.
"Да", - воскликнула она.
Бог разгневался: "Неправда, ты лжешь!"
"Прости меня, Господи, произошло недоразумение. Видишь ли, если бы я сказала про Джорджа Клуни "Нет", ты бы вывел мне Брэда Питта. Скажи я и в этот раз "Нет", ты вышел бы из воды с моим мужем. И если бы на этот раз я ответила "Да", ты бы дал мне в мужья всех троих. Здоровья я не особенно крепкого, заботиться о трех мужьях не смогу. Вот почему я согласилась на Джорджа Клуни".
Мораль: если женщина лжет, то из лучших и высоких побуждений, и всегда для блага окружающих.

God rejoiced at such honesty and left her all three thimbles, and she happily returned home.
Several years have passed.
Once a seamstress was walking with her husband along the river, when suddenly the husband slipped, fell into the river and disappeared under the water.
The seamstress began to cry, and again the Lord appeared to her and asked: "Why are you crying?"
"Oh God, my husband fell into the river!"
God entered the water and went out with George Clooney.
"Is this your husband?" he asked the woman.
“Yes,” she exclaimed.
God was angry: "It is not true, you are lying!"
“God forgive me, there was a misunderstanding. You see, if I said“ No ”about George Clooney, you would bring Brad Pitt to me.
